Metal y rap soltados con rabia a cargo de un ex-cantante de Narco. Canciones para los que gustan de recibir energía malsana en sus oídos y descargar su furia contra el desconcierto.

Vikingo MD fue uno de los cantantes de Narco, grupo de rap metal que tuvo sus años de actividad en la década de los noventa y que publicó un puñado de discos en los que se mezclaban influencias de bandas de Hip Hop como Public Enemy junto al metal salvaje de Fear Factory o Brujería.

A finales del pasado año se dio a conocer la noticia de que Vikingo MD había iniciado una nueva etapa como artista en solitario y muestra de ello fue su primer álbum “Aquí estoy yo” que editó en ese momento, un disco que comenzó a gestarse en el 2004, para irse construyendo después de la mano del productor Andreas Lutz, a base de mezclar metal y rap, con músicos reales, pero con un planteamiento similar al de los grupos de rap… El productor y los músicos creaban “bases musicales” para que el MC después hiciera sus letras y cantara sus canciones.

El resultado es una colección de cortes más próximos al metal que al Hip Hop, aunque con los rapeos como principal elemento vocal, con letras variadas y sonido muy potente.

Para trasladar al directo estas canciones Vikingo MD ha formado una banda de dos guitarras, un batería, un bajista y un DJ.

La nueva etapa es muy coherente con su estancia en Narco y seguro que interesará a los seguidores de aquella banda, además de enganchar a seguidores del rap-metal, y a parte de los fans del metal y del Hip Hop.

• ¿Qué define mejor tu música… la expresión Hip Hop o rap-metal?

Yo creo que rap-metal, puesto que la banda esta compuesta por bajo, guitarras, batería y la voz, que quizás es la que utiliza otra serie de métricas y melodías más rap

• La escena Hip Hop tiene muchas cosas buenas, pero una de las negativas es que hay mucha gente algo cerrada. El caso es que he visto tu disco anunciado en alguna revista de Hip Hop… ¿Te está recibiendo bien el público Hip Hop? ¿Crees que tu música puede interesar al oyente habitual de Hip Hop?

No es malo que aparezca mucha gente, en la música los artistas nunca están de más. En cuanto si gusta, te diré que dentro del publico Hip Hop habrá como en todos los públicos gente que sí y otros que no, aunque no creo que lo que hacemos, tenga que ser tan sectario, lo que creamos lo hacemos sin prejuicios.

• ¿Qué clase de público suele asistir a tus conciertos… aficionados al metal o al rap o a ambos?

De todo en general, veo gente que veía hace años con Narco, gente nueva y publico variado. De todo un poco.

• En el último disco de Narco se había ido Chato Chunto y luego te fuiste tú y terminó disolviéndose el grupo… ¿La disolución del grupo fue debida a diferencias exclusivamente artísticas?

No, también hay que destacar motivos personales de cada que cada cual siente en un momento, Nadie debe estar en algo forzado.

• El caso es que Narco sufrió un duro golpe con las denuncias por la inclusión del videojuego “Matanza Cofrade”… Supongo que fue una experiencia muy desagradable. ¿Se comportaron las partes… discográfica, programador, miembros del grupo como era de esperar? ¿Os sentisteis apoyados de alguna manera?

No, la compañía no se mojo en nada, se lavó las manos como Pilatos, y el marrón nos lo comimos, primero el programador del juego y luego la banda, nadie dio la cara, incluso se cagó más de uno de la compañía cuando se vio rodeado de policía y civiles, una actitud poco madura y profesional por parte de “gente de buen ver” en el mundo discográfico.

• Y en general… ¿Cómo valoras los años con Narco?

Positivamente, lo he aprendido todo con ellos, y aunque me fuera, les debo mucho. Y desde aquí muestro mi respeto y agradecimiento a los que fueran compañeros durante 10 años.

• ¿En qué están el resto de miembros de Narco?

Ahora se han vuelto a juntar algunos para desarrollar nuevos proyectos, y los demás, cada uno con sus historias, “buscándose la vida” ,como todos, supongo.

• Ahora en la nueva etapa… ¿Qué músicos te acompañan?

Chico y Pelas a las guitarras, Fernando Lamadrid al bajo y Chacho a la batería, espero que esta se consolide de una vez.

• La producción del disco la ha hecho Andreas Lutz. ¿Por qué le elegiste? ¿Qué tal ha resultado trabajar con él?

Hable con él y le comenté que tenia ideas nuevas que llevar a cabo, él me dio su apoyo desde el principio, y no lo elegí, surgió sin más. Es muy bien profesional y colega.

• En tu disco hay letras de temas bastante variados… ¿Qué te inspira a la hora de hacer las letras? ¿Surgen de impulsos o de darle vueltas a una idea hasta conseguir el resultado?

Me gusta fijarme en todo lo que pasa alrededor mió, la gente, anecdotas, historias inventadas, otras basadas en realidad, etc… no sigo una forma de trabajo en torno a las letras, lo que sí puedo asegurar que ninguna letra es vanal, siempre hay un mensaje real, algo por lo que luchar, o que desenmascarar, ya esta bien de amores, flores e hijos de puta insufribles con sus canciones románticas de cojones.

• ¿Qué tal han funcionado los conciertos de presentación del disco? ¿Tocáis algún versión de Narco?

Bien, no ha ido mal la cosa y en eso seguimos. De Narco hacemos “la puta policía”, porque la gente siempre pide algo y por lo menos con este tema tan característico de Narco, se le rinde homenaje a todos esos seguidores de la banda y a los que fueran mis compañeros.

• Creo que has hecho letras para Las Niñas y OFunkillo… ¿Qué tal la experiencia de escribir canciones para otros?

Muy buena creo que te hace crecer como letrista, ya que tienes que ponerte en el pellejo del artista e intentar llegar a él, para que así el llegue a su publico después. Todo trabajo dentro de la música si lo haces con interés y pasión reconforta.

• ¿Estás al tanto del Hip Hop español? ¿Qué te parecen los MCs de nuestro país en su faceta de letristas?

Conozco algo aunque no todo, no soy muy seguidor de lo que va saliendo del horno, siempre espero o tardo más en dar con discos nuevos. Los MCs del Hip Hop también cantan muchas gilipolleces, mirándose siempre el ombligo, pero no todos hay gente muy buena escribiendo, me gustan Tote, SFDK, Triple X, La Excepcion, Violadores y algunos artistas más dentro de esta vertiente, pero en general creo que se debe profundizar más en lo que se escribe y expresa.

• Y nada más… salvo preguntarte por tus próximos proyectos… ¿tienes ya en mente el próximo álbum?

Ahora voy a meter en Internet 3 temas, una version de “¿Música?”, la de Fear Factory y un tema nuevo. Los tres follados, en un ambiente destru-festivo, grabados en el local de ensayo, de una forma bestia como bestias y rápidos son.
