Una de las bandas más interesantes de nuestra escena roquera actual ha publicado hace pocos meses su mejor disco hasta la fecha, un trabajo elegante y cañero a partes iguales.

Ahora que estamos huérfanos de Los Enemigos, necesitamos un grupo que tome el relevo ofreciendo rock sin concesiones, con buenas letras y una actitud que nos creamos todos. Así son Sonotones, una banda que ya tiene una sólida colección de discos publicada y que madura, como el buen vino, para mejor.

Su nuevo disco, “Sin Argumentos”, es una magnífica colección de canciones, donde se percibe una evolución hacia un sonido más elegante, sin perder ni un ápice de su estirpe rockera. ¡¡Incluso se atreven con una versión de Roberto Carlos!!!… Y la bordan.

El grupo está compuesto por Javier Die Dean, cantante, Franciso de Diego y Aragüe, guitarra, Jose Luis Fernández Retamar, guitarra, Miguel Angel Blanco Pozo, batería, y Antonio Caballero Ruiz, bajo.

Si te gusta el rock, sin llegar a lo radical ni al metal, Sonotones te encantarán.

En la siguiente entrevista, su cantante, Javier Die Dean, contesta a nuestras preguntas:

• Vuestro anterior disco salió editado con Lengua Armada, el nuevo con un nuevo sello, aunque en los agradecimientos viene Nano de Lengua Armada, por lo que es de suponer que la relación con ellos sigue siendo muy buena… ¿Porqué el cambio de sello?

Nano ha estado con nosotros desde el principio, además fue el él que nos buscó la compañía cuando entramos en Desobediencia, y siempre habla muy claro. La cosa está muy chunga para el rock en España y aunque el disco anterior lo sacamos con Lengua Armada, aunque lo pagamos nosotros, queríamos probar cosas nuevas y sobretodo involucrarnos todos en la movida, o sea, aprender como funciona esto.

• En vuestro nuevo álbum percibo un sonido más elegante, sobre todo por la voz del cantante, que antes parecía más guerrera… ¿Percibís vosotros lo mismo? ¿Ha sido algo premeditado o casual?

Sí, se nota bastante el cambio. Más que en las melodías, en la intención de cantar. Parece que tenía la tontería esa de que si cantas bien es una mariconada, y en este disco ha salido la voz tal y como es, aunque tampoco se ha buscado, es una evolución lógica.

• Vuestros anteriores discos habían sido producidos por Daniel Alcover, pero en el nuevo no está acreditado quien ha realizado esa labor… ¿quién se encargado de la producción?

Sí, sí, lo pone dentro; está producido por Alberto Seara, que es el técnico de los Estudios “Cube” en Madrid y no nos cansamos de repetir que es uno de los mejores productores de España. Estamos muy contentos del Estudio y de Alberto, nos parece de lo mejor en calidad-precio, y se lo han currado.

• En general… ¿Cuál es la evolución que vosotros percibís en vuestros discos a lo largo del tiempo?

Lo que has dicho antes sobre la voz, algo parecido ha ocurrido con los temas. Igual hemos perdido algo de rabia en cuanto a los textos y la velocidad de las canciones; vamos siendo menos punkis y más rockeros.

• Tenéis una versión del tema “El Progreso” De Roberto Carlos, el cual habéis trasladado al terreno del rock de forma muy acertada… ¿Por qué esa versión? ¿Os gusta Roberto Carlos en general o esa canción en particular?

La verdad es que pensábamos hacer algo más moña para que el cambio fuera más radical, pero la cosa estaba complicada, porque las letras de la mayoría de los cantantes melódicos son puro pastel. “El Progreso” es una canción protesta, tímida pero protesta, está de actualidad, invita a la tensión guitarrera, y además Roberto Carlos es de los que se salva de la quema.

• El disco lo estáis presentando en una gira compartida con Arrasando Zepas… ¿Qué tal la experiencia?

Cojonuda. Son la bomba, nos hemos reído como nunca y hemos acabado como amigos de verdad, cosa a veces complicada con tanto concierto y convivencia. Yo me voy la semana que viene a chisparme con ellos en Alcazar de San Juan.

• El caso es que vuestra música y la de Arrasando Zepas es bastante distinta… ¿Cuál es el nexo que os une?

Estamos en el mismo rollo, tenemos las mismas ilusiones y las mismas desilusiones. Somos rockeros aunque diferentes, y nos gustan las mismas tías.

• Ahora me gustaría conocer un poco las interioridades del grupo… La composición de las canciones las firma Javier en cuanto a letras, y todos juntos en cuanto a música… ¿Cuál es la dinámica para conseguir una nueva canción?

Generalmente nacen de un riff de guitarra, que puede ser estrofa, estribillo o simplemente el riff entre las estrofas. A raíz de ahí empezamos a meter cosas que no desmerezcan, tanto estribillos como melodías. Es un descontrol controlado.

• Para Javier… al escribir las letras… ¿tienes en cuenta que todos se han de identificar con ellas?

Las letras tienen que estar abiertas, porque las sensaciones que yo tengo también las tiene mucha gente pero en distintas situaciones. El asunto es intentar pellizcar en el interior de la gente para que las haga suyas, en el fondo somos todos bastante parecidos.

• Vivir en estos días del rock es ciertamente difícil… ¿Sonotones es vuestro trabajo o lo tenéis que complementar con otras actividades?

Nosotros trabajamos todos. Sonotones nos quita el sueño, es la droga de la que no podemos prescindir pero que la pagamos con otros trabajos, ya nos gustaría a nosotros poder vivir de esto. Mira hoy ensayamos, a las 21.30 empezamos y acabaremos a las 23.30, un lunes… que apetece un huevo.

• ¿Cuánto tiempo le dedicáis al grupo?…. Me refiero a ensayos, viajes y demás…

Solemos ensayar tres veces por semana cuanto estamos componiendo. En verano, con la gira y tal, somos un poco más perros.

• Si os ofrecieran un contrato “impresionante”, pero a cambio tuvierais que hacer concesiones musicales… ¿Hasta donde estaríais dispuestos a llegar?

Hasta la minifalda de la secretaria, je, je. Nosotros no valemos para hacer otra cosa que esto, pero de todas maneras esos contratos impresionantes ya no existen, hay que bajar a la tierra y trabajar.

• En otro orden de cosas… ¿Qué os parece el éxito de El Koala?

Parece que es un rockero de toda la vida. Pues nada, que se lleve unas pelillas como hizo el Niño de la Peca y a otra cosa. Hay que ser un poco comprensivo, igual el disco próximo es la leche. Ahora, yo eso no lo compro.

• Para nuestros lectores que se han quedado con ganas de saber más sobre vosotros y escucharos… ¿dónde se pueden hacer con vuestro disco?
